The Great Clothing Giveaway

Beginning in 1999, Henderson United Methodist Church (HUMC) started the Great Clothing Giveaway. It was a way for the church to assist the homeless, as well as the surrounding neighborhoods, with an offer of clothing those in need. When it started, they served the public out in the Church's parking lot, but over the years it has grown and moved indoors. Now HUMC has a large selection of clothing and it serves a full breakfast to those that wish to partake. This is one of our many missions that we use to minister to the public and to extend the Grace of God to all those that show.

This year will be our 14th annual Great Clothing Giveaway. Our main goal is to reach the homeless and we shuttle them in and offer them the first choice of clothing and food. We also provide them a chance to shower and to get haircuts if they are wanting. The next step is that we offer those in the surrounding communities to come and have breakfast and take whatever clothing they are wanting. Finally, this year, we want all of those in need in Little Rock to come and partake of this event.

It promises to be even bigger than last year. We are asking for people to donate their gently used clothing and accessories. We will also take donations for new clothing. These can be dropped off at the church office from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

For those that are interested in volunteering your time with this wonderful event, please fill out the form below and we will be glad to contact you when it comes closer to time. We will need people to fold, cook, organize, drive, help shop and clean up. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Message from Shaun and Candi

Candi and I would like to thank Henderson UMC for the opportunity to put on this great ministry. This was our second year organizing this and we have enjoyed our time leading this ministry.

We have helped so many people this year and would like to let everyone know how we did.

This year we helped 150 families. We helped 47 homeless. We served 230 plates of food. This is a great increase from last year.

We would like to thank those corporate sponsors this year:
