Where Do Your Tithes Go?

Board of Church and Society

A portion of our offering every week supports United Methodist agencies such as the Board of Church and Society. This organization commissioned to relate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the members of the church, to our community and to the world in which we live. It seeks to bring the whole of human life, including all activities, possessions, communities and world relationships into conformity with the will of God. Our giving makes it possible for the Board of Church and Society to further ministries of reconciliation.

Local Church Budgeting

While it cold be said that giving through the local church budget is the plain vanilla of stewardship, it is most certainly a strong expression of responsible servanthood. In the local church budget we see an amazing diversity of destinations for our gifts, from the most mundane concerns of plant maintenance to the proclamation of the Gospel in our community and around the world. Through the process of planning and projecting, we do our best to see what we underwrite our ministries in order that our highest priories may be realized in action. We are also reminded that all we are, and whatever we do together, for better or worse, is a powerful example for those around us. We want to insure that what we model as a community validates and strengthens the message we proclaim. Thank you!

Christian Education and Teaching

A young pastor was counseled, "...what you have heard from me through many faithful witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well" (2 Timothy 2:2). "Faithful people who...teach others" are essential to the life of our congregation. A portion of our offerings provide necessary training for those leaders and teachers who teach the faith in our congregation. Thank you!

UMCOR

In recent years we have watches as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and tsunami's devastated entire regions. There is always the possibility that ice storms, earthquakes, floods, forest fires or drought may shatter lives and communities within our state, across our nation and around the world. Part of our offering each weeks is given to provide for UMCOR Disaster Response Teach which anticipate and respond to emergency needs. Our giving today assures that they will be in place and prepared. When natural disaster strikes or when human sin created human suffering (terrorist attacks, riots, wars, uprisings) the Christian response is to step in to help. Before other agencies can mobilize, and long after most have left, the United Methodist Committee on Relief is on site, bringing the touch of God into the midst of chaos. Thank you!

Multiplying God's Love

Each week congregations of the United Methodist Church multiply God's lobe through the extension of themselves beyond the four walls of the sanctuary by the offering of prayer and resources to support ministries through the apportioned fund. Appointments represent each congregation's "fair share" in support of the work done by the denomination. Because all can't go into hands-on mission, United Methodists combine our resources and send missionaries around the world. Because each church can't build a university, we pool our resources and together build many great ones. Every church can't operate it's own home for senior adults, so we share with each other in order to make that dream come true. We can't all write our own Christian literature, but we can make it possible for it to be written and shared. We work together to build churches, train leaders, support childcare centers and build hospitals. All of that happens through our appointed giving. Thank you!
