1. The Spirit is alive and obvious; there is a sense of excitement in the air.
2. Each member has a personal relationship with God.
3. All activities emerge from and are centered in the Gospel message.
4. The congregation emphasizes the centrality of prayer in their lives and for the church.
5. The ministers exhibit the Fruits of the Spirit.
6. Every member has an integral role to fill, and willingly fills it.
7. It nurtures the spiritual growth of all ages.
8. The people genuinely care for each other.
9. The ministers willingly share leadership of the church.
10. The fellowship is inclusive.
11. There is an overall pervasive positive spirit.
12. It is God-centered rather than church-centered. Its focus is outward rather than on self.
13. It is prophetic, willing to stand in opposition of the status quo in order to remain faithful to what it believes God is calling it to be and do.
14. It sets a loving, spiritual example.
15. It is courageous; willing to risk.
16. The atmosphere is joyful and reverent, conducive to worship.
17. There is a strong Christian Education program for all ages.
18. It is relevant.
19. It intentionally seeks to bridge the gap between the church and secular culture.
20. Witnessing by word and deed is a regular part of daily life for its members.
21. It sees itself as a Servant Church.
22. It is obedient to the will of God.
23. It is faithful to Christ and his mission.
24. It has established a reputation as a generous, gentle, kind and compassionate Body.
25. There is an understanding that each member is in ministry.
26. There is a sense of unity and cooperation; a team spirit.
27. It is expectant, anticipatory, forward-looking.
28. There is a clear understanding of holiness ("set apart for God's purpose").
29. The membership practices balanced stewardship.
30. It is open to new ideas and change.
31. It has a clear understanding of its mission.
32. It is responsive to the needs of persons not in membership.
33. It offers opportunities for people to say, "Here am I."
34. Visitors feel welcome and wanted.
35. Its members are active both in small group activities and in corporate worship.
36. Its members understand that the primary purpose of corporate worship is to honor and glorify God rather than "charge their batteries" or "fill their tank".
37. The membership is intentional about embracing visitors and assimilating them into small group and fellowship activities.
38. It is focused on mission and ministry rather than the maintenance or preservation of "what is".
A Dynamic Church is Not...
1. A closed fellowship
2. A country club or entertainment center
3. A source of all the answers
4. Owned by the people
5. A building
6. Defined by people
7. Limited
8. Just a "Sunday thing"
9. Comprised of "cliques"
10. Set in its ways (unwilling to change)
11. Made up of people on the take, asking, "what can the church do for me?"
12. "Us" centered
13. Something people receive from, without a sense of responsibility or expectation that they are to give to.
